We are looking for an experienced Mining Engineer to support the continued development and
implementation of open pit designs and mine plans necessary to ensure the safe execution of
construction and operations of our Hammerdown Project near King’s Point, Newfoundland and
Labrador. Our Hammerdown Project is an open pit gold mining operation, which will supply run of
mine feed to our operating Pine Cove mill, located approximately 100km from Hammerdown, near
the town of Ming’s Bight on the Baie Verte peninsula.
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Mining Engineer is responsible for developing, updating and
maintaining short term mine plans to support Hammerdown Mine operations. Ensuring compliance
with relevant best demonstrated practices and other regulatory requirements will be key to this role,
along with a leading contribution to fostering a culture of risk management throughout construction
and into operations.
Your Role in the Expedition:
As a Mining Engineer, you’ll be part of a dynamic team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Complete drill and blast designs, waste dump designs, stockpile designs, and mine plan
sequencing and scheduling, as required.
- Communicate Engineering deliverables to the Mine Operations team.
- Coordinate workflow between the Engineering, Geology, and Mine Operations teams.
- Track and report compliance KPI’s.
- Complete month end reporting for the Mine Engineering team.
- Other related duties as required.
What You Bring to the Field:
- B.Sc. degree in Mining Engineering, Mining Technology diploma, or suitable technical skills.
- Minimum 4 years experience in an operating open pit mine.
- P.Eng. designation, or ability to apply for a P.Eng. designation, with PEGNL is preferred but
not essential.
- Demonstrated ability to develop practical, safe, and cost effective solutions.
- Proficiency with mine planning computer software (Deswik, MS Office).
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
