NURSE PRACTITIONER
Applications are invited for a part time Nurse Practitioner for Athabasca Health Authority Clinic in Black Lake, SK.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Under the supervision of the Director of Primary Care Services and the Nurse in Charge. The Nurse Practitioner is authorized by the Athabasca Health Authority to function in the expanded role of nursing. The Nurse Practitioner provides safe, competent care with full scope of practice in the emergency department, including emergent, urgent, non-urgent and short-term observation services; assists with scheduled Physician and Specialty clinics; participates in the delivery of primary health care programs and assists in acute care, long-term care, respite and palliative care patients as required.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrated ability to function competently as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity to the Dene culture.
- Interpersonal, organizational and communication skills consistent with establishing and maintaining the working relationships required to perform the role requirements effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Possess sound judgment, as well as critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, orally and in writing, with the general public, AHA staff and community members.
- Ability to prioritize role tasks; react positively to heavy workloads, conflicting demands, and tight time constraints.
- Assume responsibility and is accountable at all times for personal practice.
- Demonstrated ability to use standard office software.
- Willingly participates in quality improvement and client safety initiatives.
- Perform other duties, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Registered Nurse/Nurse Practitioner with a Master’s of Nursing – Nurse Practitioner Degree.
- Currently registered and in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan.
- Minimum of 3–5 years nursing experience in an emergency/critical care setting (within last 3 years).
- Certified in CPR, ITLS or TNCC, ACLS & PALS.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.
