Duties of a Receptionist at an Optometrist Office
- Greeting Patients:
- Welcome patients as they arrive at the office.
- Ensure a friendly and professional first impression.
- Scheduling Appointments:
- Answer phone calls and schedule patient appointments.
- Confirm upcoming appointments and reschedule as needed.
- Manage patient cancellations or changes to appointments.
- Patient Check-In:
- Verify patient information, including insurance details and medical history.
- Collect necessary forms and update patient records.
- Managing Patient Flow:
- Coordinate with optometrists and other staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
- Notify patients when the optometrist is ready to see them.
- Answering Phones and Emails:
- Handle incoming calls and emails regarding appointment scheduling, inquiries, and general office information.
- Provide basic information on services offered.
- Insurance Verification:
- Assist with verifying patient insurance information.
- Ensure claims are processed and patients are informed of their benefits.
- Data Entry and Filing:
- Enter patient information into the practice management system.
- Maintain and organize patient records, ensuring confidentiality.
- Billing and Payments:
- Assist with processing payments for services rendered.
- Help explain billing questions to patients.
Qualifications:
- Experience in optometry or healthcare is a plus, but not required
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented attitude
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
