Sexual Abuse Family Education Treatment Program (SAFE-T)
1 Part Time (approx. 18.25 hours/ week) - New Position
Temporary Contract (July 31, 2026 - March 31, 2027)
Hourly Salary Range: $44.77 - $53.27
This position is part of a pilot project designed to strengthen the integration of speech-language pathology and mental health services by ensuring speech, language, and communication needs are recognized and addressed alongside emotional, behavioural, and relational concerns throughout assessment, treatment planning, and intervention. The Speech Language Pathologists (SLP) will provide assessment, treatment and consultative speech-language pathology services to SAFE-T clients between the ages of 5-18 years. The SLP will work collaboratively with the SAFE‑T Program’s multi-disciplinary team, caregivers, and relevant professionals to inform shared case formulation and treatment planning.
The SAFE-T Program is a specialized community-based clinic that provides evidence-based assessment and treatment services for: children and youth who have experienced intrafamilial sexual abuse; children with concerning sexual behaviours and youth who have engaged in sexually harming behaviours within their families and/or the community. The SAFE-T Program also provides consultation & training and conducts research.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience assessing and treating a wide variety of speech, language and communication areas including primarily social/pragmatic communication and higher order language impairment.
- Minimum 7 years' experience working as an SLP with children ages 5 through 18 years old preferred.
- Preference will be given to those with experience working with mental health professionals/within the mental health sector.
- Plan and implement appropriate intervention plans that include direct and indirect services ranging from weekly intervention to consultation/collaboration with the family, SAFE-T clinicians and other relevant professionals (e.g. school boards, etc.) about the nature, severity and impact of a communication disorder.
- Experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven dedication to continuing education/professional development and the clinical education of students.
- Proven ability to manage administrative tasks and responsibilities in a timely manner.
- Extensive knowledge of the relationship between mental health, trauma, and communication development.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed, neurodiversity affirming and culturally responsive care.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work evenings/flexibly when needed
- Ability to provide clinical services in person in West Toronto
- Registration with CASLPO, required
- Successful completion of a Broad Records Check (Police Records Check).
