Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Truck and Transport Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background with Heavy Duty repair as well as experience in industrial equipment, background in mechanical systems, and heavy equipment operation. This full-time position offers an opportunity to work on a variety of truck and transport vehicles and machinery, utilizing advanced tools and diagnostic equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Welding skills are also highly desirable. This role requires hands-on expertise in repair, electrical systems, schematics interpretation, and the use of various hand and power tools.
Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on a wide range of Truck and Transport vehicles.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, brakes, engine repairs, transmissions, etc
- Utilize hand tools, power tool, schematics, and diagnostic equipment to identify issues accurately.
- Utilize welding techniques for repairs when necessary
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, and industrial machinery as needed
- Follow safety protocols during all repair activities to ensure a safe working environment.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs performed and parts used.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company policies.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with mechanical knowledge.
- Customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients or team members regarding repairs or maintenance issues
Skills
- Proven mechanic experience with strong knowledge of Truck and Transport diesel systems and repair techniques.
- Welding experience is welcome, industrial equipment maintenance and tool operation.
- Mechanical knowledge related to engines, transmissions, electrical components, and general maintenance.
- Mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, flexibility, good hand-eye coordination and data management
- Familiarity with heavy lifting techniques and the use of hand tools and power tools for repairs.
- Good communication skills, self learning, and patience.
- Strong problem solving skills with the ability to troublshoot complex mechanical issues quickly.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
- Ability to work independently or as a team in a fast paced environment
Qualities
- Red seal is a huge asset
- Must be at least 3rd year apprentice
- You MUST have a valid class 5 license
- Welding experience is a plus
- Candidate needs clear understanding of heavy duty repair process
