Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Food Truck Staff to join our dynamic team. Our food truck is located at Off the Grid Organic Winery in West Kelowna. This role involves providing excellent customer service, taking orders, preparing and serving food, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Ideal candidates will have a passion for the food industry, strong communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Prior experience in food service, fast food or restaurant environments is preferred but not required. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a food truck that serves organic, handmade and locally sourced foods. As part of Off the Grid Organic Winery, if you are over 19 you will also have access to wine events and staff related winery perks.
We are looking for 2 different people, one person interested in 1 day a week and one interested in 2-3 days. Our food truck hours are wed-sun 11-7pm closing at 6pm on weekends and wednesday. Students are ok, but must be able to work thursday evenings starting at 4:30.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble menu items according to company standards and recipes
- Operate POS systems, for order processing and cash handling
- Serve customers with professionalism, ensuring a positive dining experience
- Manage cash register transactions accurately, including upselling additional items when appropriate
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the food truck, adhering to food safety standards
- Handle food with proper hygiene practices and ensure proper storage of ingredients
- Manage time effectively to ensure timely service during busy periods
- Assist with inventory management and restocking supplies as needed
- Uphold sanitation standards by cleaning workstations, utensils, and equipment regularly
- Provide friendly customer service, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly
Requirements
- Previous experience in food service, restaurant, or food industry preferred but not mandatory
- Experience with POS systems
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on hospitality and communication
- Basic math skills for cash handling and transaction accuracy
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting supplies or equipment
- Food safety certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred
- Flexibility to work flexible hours, including weekends or special events as needed
