Our client, a growing organization in Vaughan, ON is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage full-cycle, end-to-end Canadian payroll for <500 employees based in Ontario. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of Canadian payroll experience and strong understanding of Workforce Now (WFN) by ADP and the ability to operate independently while maintaining strict attention to detail.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Administer end-to-end payroll for <500 employees (hourly and salaried) on a bi-weekly basis
- Process all payroll-related transactions including earnings, deductions, commissions, bonuses, and vacation payments
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, ensuring accuracy for hires, exits, compensation updates, and leave statuses
- Partner with internal stakeholders across HR and Finance to validate payroll inputs and resolve discrepancies
- Perform regular reconciliations of payroll data, including general ledger tie-outs and benefits deductions
- Ensure full compliance with Canadian payroll legislation, including CRA regulations and Ontario employment standards
- Manage statutory remittances such as CPP, EI, EHT, and WSIB
- Coordinate year-end payroll activities, including preparation and distribution of T4s, T4As, and related filings
- Address employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and responsiveness
- Support internal and external audits related to payroll and compliance
- Monitor legislative changes and adjust payroll processes accordingly
- Continuously improve payroll procedures, documentation, and system utilization
What You Bring
- Minimum 5 years of end-to-end Canadian payroll experience, with a strong focus on Ontario regulations
- Proven ability to manage payroll independently in a stand-alone or lead capacity
- Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now (WFN) is essential
- PCP Payroll designation (completed or in progress) through the National Payroll Institute is required
- Solid knowledge of CRA requirements, Employment Standards Act (ESA), and statutory compliance
- Advanced attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- High level of discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including reconciliations and data analysis
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
