Job Title: Purchasing Assistant
Position Summary
The Purchasing Assistant supports the procurement team in sourcing, ordering, and managing meat products. This role ensures timely purchase of high-quality raw materials at competitive prices while maintaining compliance with food safety standards and internal inventory requirements. The role is critical in supporting production continuity and cost control within a food manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in purchasing meat products including beef, lamb, pork, poultry based on production demand.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders (POs) in alignment with approved requisitions and forecasts.
- Track order status, delivery schedules, and ensure on-time inbound shipments.
- Communicate with domestic and international meat suppliers regarding pricing, availability, and lead times.
- Maintain updated supplier records, contracts, and product specifications.
- Follow up on supplier confirmations, shipment documents, and discrepancies.
- Monitor inventory levels of meat raw materials and assist in demand planning.
- Work closely with production planning and warehouse teams to align purchasing with demand forecasts.
- Coordinate with QA team on COA (Certificate of Analysis), inspection reports, non-conformance issues and relative food safety documents.
- Support traceability documentation for audits and recalls when needed.
- Assist in price tracking, cost comparisons, and basic market analysis for meat commodities.
- Support reporting on purchasing KPIs such as cost savings, supplier performance, and delivery accuracy.
- Perform other procurement-related tasks assigned by the Purchasing Manager.
Qualifications & Requirements
- College diploma or university degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Food Science, or related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain (food/meat industry preferred).
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
