Construction Technologist
Penn-co Construction is a leading construction company currently hiring a Construction Technologist to join our team working at our Steinbach office. As the Construction Technologist you will be responsible for field technology, reality capture, digital documentation, project onboarding, and construction technology workflows.. This role requires an understanding of construction, some exposure to surveying or field measurement, enjoys technology, and wants to help improve how projects are delivered. Responsibilities
- Support project teams with construction technology tools and workflows
- Assist with project technology setup, onboarding, training, and adoption
- Perform 360 walkthroughs, scanning, drone capture, site documentation, and field verification
- Support basic survey-related workflows, including site verification, measurement, layout support, elevations, and existing condition capture
- Organize captured project data so it is accurate, useful, and accessible
- Help improve field-to-office communication and project visibility
- Support digital construction, BIM/VDC, and future technology initiatives
Qualifications
- Experience in construction, surveying, construction technology, project coordination, engineering technology, BIM/VDC, reality capture, or a related field
- Some exposure to surveying, layout, field measurement, elevations, site control, or construction verification
- Strong understanding of construction project environments
- Comfortable working on active construction sites
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to learn new technology and support others in using it
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as required
Preferred Experience
- Reality capture, drones, laser scanning, 360 documentation, or site photography
- Surveying, layout, GPS, total station, grade checking, or field verification workflows
- BIM/VDC or model-based construction workflows
- Tools such as DroneDeploy, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, CMiC, Procore, RCT360, Leica, FARO, Trimble, Topcon, or similar platforms
