The Canadian Public Safety Operations Organization (CanOps) invites qualified applicants to apply for the Full-time, Permanent Training Facilitator position in the Operations Support Services unit at the Provincial Emergency Communications Centre (PECC) South location in Regina.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Training Facilitator is responsible for preparing, delivering, and evaluating classroom training in the Provincial Emergency Communications Center programs that support employee development and organizational effectiveness. This role ensures that staff receive engaging, interactive, and practical learning experiences that enhance skills, knowledge, and performance. The Training Facilitator works closely with subject matter experts, leadership, and team members to assess training needs, develop curriculum, and foster a culture of continuous learning.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Training Services
- Execute staff training initiatives throughout the PECC included but not limited to: new hire on-boarding, cross-training, remedial training, new technology/policies and continued education.
- Assists in updating and maintaining PECC Training materials as assigned.
- Prepares and delivers APCO certified courses, as they relate to the communications centre and organization.
- Assists in Training Program Improvement and Development as requested.
- Prepares and delivers training to PECC staff as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of three years’ experience in Public Safety Telecommunications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience obtained in another suitable manner.
- Certification as a Training Instructor, specializing in adult education.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and virtual meeting platform.
- Proficiency in specialized Public Safety programs including but not limited to: Intergraph Computer Aided Dispatch, Power 911 telephony, Public Safety Radio Network Programing, NICE voice recording software, Emergency Dispatch including Pro-QA.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Related post-secondary education, training, or certification in adult education, facilitation, instructional design, communications, emergency services, public safety, or a related area is considered an asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Location: Office-based at PECC South in Regina. Regular travel to PECC North office in Prince Albert will be required.
- Schedule and hours of work - 1950 hours annually. Monday – Friday; 8am – 5pm with an EDO earned every three weeks.
