We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a senior care organization in Toronto, Ontario on a Long-term Contract basis. In this role, you will oversee a large volume of invoices with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and strong vendor service. This position is well suited to someone who can stay organized in a fast-paced environment, work collaboratively across teams, and help strengthen day-to-day accounts payable operations.
Responsibilities:
- Process a high volume of utility and supplier invoices while ensuring prompt and accurate entry.
- Examine invoices carefully, identify inconsistencies, and follow up on missing information or approvals to keep payments on track.
- Build and maintain tracking methods that provide visibility into invoice progress and utility-related spending.
- Apply correct general ledger coding and expense allocation within the organization’s financial systems.
- Contribute to clearing aged items and recommend practical improvements to invoice handling procedures.
- Work closely with internal departments and external vendors to resolve questions, obtain approvals, and address payment concerns.
- Support vendor account reconciliations, payment runs, cheque processing, and month-end accounts payable tasks.
- Manage competing deadlines effectively while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience in accounts payable, including invoice review, coding, and payment support.
- Proficiency with accounting and ERP platforms, with the ability to learn organization-specific systems quickly.
- Hands-on experience working with vendor accounts, reconciliations, and payment processing activities.
- Familiarity with utility invoicing and tracking high-volume transactions is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of tools such as ADP, Yardi, or comparable financial software.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and follow through to resolution.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven setting.
