About You
You are a CPA-designated audit professional with 3-5 years of public accounting experience, ready to take ownership of complex, end-to-end engagements across a diverse client portfolio. You bring strong IFRS and CAS expertise, with the confidence to navigate challenging audit issues, deliver high-quality assurance work, and keep engagements moving forward in a fast-paced environment.
You combine technical judgement with a collaborative, solutions-focused approach. Known for your leadership and presence with clients and teams alike, you build trusted relationships, mentor and elevate junior staff, and play a key role in driving engagement success.
Your Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end audit engagements across a diverse client portfolio, including financial statements, disclosures, and other key deliverables.
- Deliver high-quality work and exceptional client service by proactively anticipating client needs and escalating issues when necessary.
- Collaborate with Engagement Partners to develop and execute a risk-based engagement approach and plan.
- Prepare key audit deliverables, such as board communications, deficiency letters, and management letters, using clear, insightful analysis of financial statements.
- Review workpapers, financial statements, and reports prepared by junior staff, ensuring audit quality, productivity, and adherence to budgets and timelines.
- Lead, mentor, and develop audit teams and junior auditors as part of McGovern Hurley’s Coaching Program, providing guidance, feedback, learning, and growth.
- Stay abreast of evolving accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices, driving technical excellence and compliance.
- Drive McGovern Hurley’s growth through strong client relationship management and active participation in business development initiatives.
What You Bring

3 – 5 years of recent public accounting experience, with a CPA designation in good standing with CPA Ontario.

Proven experience leading complex audit engagements from planning to completion, delivering high-quality audit and assurance services across a diverse client portfolio.

Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS), with experience applying them across complex engagements.

Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, with experience mentoring, coaching, and growing collaborative, high-performing teams.

Excellent organization and execution skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and client expectations with confidence.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, Partners, and cross-functional teams.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word, along with experience using audit technologies and digital tools.
