Summary
We are seeking a Health & Safety Officer to join our team for our Eastern provinces. This pivotal role will help ensure that our projects adhere to the highest safety standards, reflecting our commitment to a safe working environment and excellence in service. The Safety Officer will be based in Barrie Office, contributing significantly to our mission of delivering quality craftsmanship safely.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve health and safety policies, programs, and procedures across multiple construction projects.
- Deliver engaging safety orientations, and training sessions for employees and subcontractors, including conducting respirator fit testing.
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses, identify root causes, and prepare comprehensive reports for WSIB and Head Office while ensuring timely corrective actions are implemented.
- Coordinate and manage modified work and return-to-work programs for injured workers in collaboration with supervisors and relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with project managers to integrate safety measures into daily operations.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness among all team members.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation and records, using sitedocs.
- Organize, facilitate, and document effective Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings, ensuring legislative compliance and follow-up on committee recommendations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Safety Officer or similar role within the construction or contracting industry.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable in ON, NL, NB.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Certification in Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and NCSO or equivalent is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year

Experience:
- Construction Safety: 5 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- NCSO certification (preferred)
