Dexter Construction is a large, diversified Construction Company engaged in all major aspects of the heavy civil construction industry within the Atlantic Provinces. We are currently seeking the qualifications and expertise of an Industrial Services Operator based out of Bedford, NS.
Job Summary:
The Industrial Services Operator performs industrial cleaning and maintenance using specialized equipment such as vacuum trucks, wash units, and high‑pressure water blasting systems. This role requires safe equipment operation, adherence to safety and environmental standards, and the ability to work efficiently in physically demanding and variable work environments while maintaining professional interactions with customers and team members.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate a variety of industrial services equipment, including mobile wash units, vacuum trucks, wet/dry vacuum truck units and high-pressure water blast units
Perform industrial cleaning using pressure wash and high pressure and hose trucks
Have or obtain certification to perform confined space entry jobs
Lift up to 50lbs to set up and control hoses, and to shovel waste material
Accurately complete pre and post trip inspections and work orders on time and in a legible manner
Protect and promote the interest of this company in all matters
Engage with customers and vendors in a professional manner
Participate in safety meetings and identify and report all workplace injuries, incidents and potential hazards immediately to your Supervisor
Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
Work efficiently to meet or exceed productivity goals while maintaining high quality standards
Adhere to all Environmental policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience:
High School Diploma
2 years’ experience in an industrial services environment
Well versed in industrial services protocols, rules, and code of conduct
Valid Class 3 license in good standing
Good communication skills to be able to interact verbally with peers, customers, and vendors
Willingness to work in a team environment
Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
Able to lift up to 50 lbs
Able to perform confined space entry tasks
Comfortable working at heights
Working Conditions:
The Industrial Services Operator role will include physically strenuous activities. There will be lifting, pulling, and managing heavy equipment and objects. The Industrial Services Operator will require use of PPE, hard hat, steel-toed boots, reflective vest, coveralls, etc. The worksite environment for this position will vary and could be in fluctuating weather conditions.
