Weekend Caregiver / Health Care Aide (HCA) – Bearspaw, Rocky View County
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Schedule: Saturdays and Sundays, 6.5 hours per day (13 hours/week)
Additional Hours: Opportunity for casual weekday shifts to provide vacation, illness, and scheduling coverage.
About the Position
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced Health Care Aide (HCA) to provide one-on-one care for a female client with severe dementia who is completely bed-bound and requires total care.
This role is best suited for someone who is patient, attentive, physically capable, and highly skilled in communication. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the client's comfort, dignity, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Provide total personal care for a bed-bound client
- Assist with repositioning, transfers, and mobility support
- Perform personal hygiene and incontinence care
- Monitor client comfort, safety, and well-being
- Communicate clearly with family members and care team
- Maintain accurate documentation as required
- Follow established care plans and safety procedures
Required Qualifications
- Registered Health Care Aide (HCA) in Alberta
- Current CLPNA Health Care Aide Directory registration
- Health Care Aide Certificate
- Valid Criminal Record Check / Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle (location is not accessible by public transit)
- Physically able to lift, reposition, and assist a total-care client
- Previous experience caring for individuals with dementia is strongly preferred
Essential Skills
- Fluent, clear English communication is mandatory
- Strong verbal communication and listening skills
- Ability to understand and follow detailed care instructions
- Professional, dependable, and compassionate approach
- Excellent observation and reporting skills
Preferred Qualifications
- German language skills are considered a strong asset
- Experience providing one-on-one private home care
- Experience with advanced dementia care
