Position Summary
The Academic Services Assistant / Student Success Advisor position is a combined position at a Regional Campus.
The Academic Services Assistant portion of the position provides administrative and program support for all aspects of the campus. The incumbent provides support to the Campus Manager / Regional Director as well as faculty and students. These duties include, but are not limited to the following:
providing liaison services for students with the Registrar’s department, Financial Aid and other regional campuses
providing front-line assistance to students and the public
processing, reconciling and supervising financial functions such as accounts receivable and accounts payable
preparing contracts
assists in the day-to-day operation of the Campus
The Student Success Advisor portion of the position addresses the issues that challenge students while promoting student engagement and success in their pathway through PSE for local and regional populations including K-12, adult learners, community and Indigenous populations, International students, and agency clients. The incumbent will develop and deliver specific programming to support students in campus life both socially and academically following a strategic plan for outreach, retention and transition, including the Access and Inclusion Program model.
The incumbent provides academic advisement, delivers workshops, provides appropriate referrals to other college departments and service areas, and engages in outreach, transition and retention activities. The incumbent develops academic workshops and/or related activities that meet the needs of students and community partners to increase awareness of and increased participation in the PSE pathways, The incumbent initiates and is responsible for data gathering and statistical information for all activities and ensures a regular and timely submission of data to ensure the College meets Ontario Postsecondary Access and Inclusion Program ( OPAIP ) reporting requirements. The incumbent will also assist with preparing Ministry reports when required.

Progressively responsible experience in assessing students’ needs with respect to retention and engagement
Transferable skills in assertiveness, decision-making and problem solving.
Demonstrated experience with clerical skills such as organizing files, maintaining department financial files, writing memos, letters, emails, prioritizing multiple tasks.
