Job Description
We are looking for a Firmware QA Specialist to serve as a bridge between the development and product validation teams.
In this role, you will be responsible for investigating complex issues observed in the field by analyzing system logs, telemetry data, network traffic, and firmware behavior to identify the root cause.
More than just a traditional testing role, you will help transform issues reported by users into clear, reproducible, and actionable diagnostics for the engineering teams. Your work will have a direct impact on the reliability, performance, and quality of our connected products.
Troubleshooting and Analysis

Diagnose firmware, embedded software, and hardware issues based on logs, telemetry data, and observed behavior.

Analyze connectivity and communication issues using tools such as Wireshark.

Identify the root causes of incidents and document findings for development teams.

Write clear and reproducible incident reports and defect tickets.
Validation and Quality Assurance

Review specifications to ensure they are clear, consistent, and testable.

Design and execute test plans tailored to hardware, software, and firmware components.

Validate firmware updates, recovery mechanisms, storage, and reboot behaviors.

Verify integrations between cameras, cloud services, mobile apps, and web applications.
Automation and Continuous Improvement

Develop Python scripts to automate analyses, diagnostics, and recurring tasks.

Contribute to the improvement of testing tools, processes, and environments.

Track test results and analyze CI pipeline failures.
Hardware Validation and Prototyping
-
Contribute to hardware validation activities (battery, power supply, solar charging, triggering, etc.).

Assist with the setup and maintenance of the test lab.
-
Collaborate with the firmware and hardware teams on prototyping and troubleshooting initiatives.
Qualifications
-
3 years of experience in quality assurance, test engineering, embedded systems testing, IoT product testing, or technical support for connected devices.
-
In-depth proficiency with Jira, including ticket triage, workflow management, ticket linking, using queries, and maintaining a high signal-to-noise ratio when reporting defects.

Experience with embedded Linux distributions such as Buildroot or Yocto.

Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or other hardware debugging equipment.

Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines such as Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.

Experience writing or reviewing technical specifications.

Experience testing cellular IoT products that are battery-powered and intended for outdoor or remote use.

Experience validating firmware updates over networks with limited bandwidth.

Knowledge of MQTT, HTTP, REST APIs, cellular modems, or cloud-connected embedded devices.
