Position Summary
Blue Chip is seeking an experienced Field Environmental Technician to join our Environmental Field Services team.
In this role, you will execute environmental compliance programs including LDAR (Leak Detection and Repair), Multi Sector Air Pollutant Regulations (MSAPR), Fuel Flare Vent (FFV), and Compressor Seal Vent (CSV) testing while supporting provincial and federal greenhouse gas (GHG) regulations.
Working throughout Alberta and Western Canada, you'll use industry-leading equipment—including Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) cameras, Hi-Flow Samplers, and handheld analyzers—to identify emissions, support regulatory compliance, and help clients reduce methane emissions.
Instrumentation experience is considered a significant asset, as our integrated service model frequently combines environmental, measurement, and controls expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform LDAR inspections using OGI cameras and approved leak detection equipment.
- Conduct MSAPR, FFV, CSV, and other environmental compliance testing programs.
- Identify, classify, quantify, and document fugitive emissions.
- Prepare accurate field reports and inspection documentation.
- Support greenhouse gas (GHG), TIER, and other environmental reporting initiatives.
- Work closely with Blue Chip's Measurement and Data teams to ensure accurate, defensible data collection.
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate environmental monitoring equipment.
- Travel to client sites throughout Alberta and Western Canada.
- Follow all client and Blue Chip safety procedures while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of related environmental or instrumentation field experience.
- Instrumentation background or field instrumentation experience is considered a strong asset.
- Working knowledge of Alberta AER directives, Saskatchewan regulations, and Federal Methane Regulations.
- Experience operating FLIR GF Series OGI cameras is preferred.
- Experience with Hi-Flow Samplers and handheld methane detection equipment is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation and data management skills.
- Ability to work independently in remote field environments.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
