Position Overview
The Structural Engineer will be responsible for reviewing, coordinating, and approving structural designs for residential developments. The successful candidate will provide engineering expertise throughout the design and construction process, support field operations with engineering requests, coordinate external consultants, and ensure compliance with applicable building codes and engineering standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is required.
- Minimum 5+ years of structural engineering experience, preferably within residential construction, land development, or homebuilding.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code
- Experience reviewing and approving structural drawings, calculations, and permit submissions.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Construction, Architecture, and Development teams to review and coordinate structural designs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide structural engineering support during design development, permit approval, and construction phases.
- Review structural drawings, calculations, and consultant submissions to ensure compliance with applicable codes and project requirements.
- Coordinate with external consultants, contractors, and municipal authorities to resolve design and construction-related issues.
- Assist with site reviews and respond to structural inquiries or Engineering Requests (ERs) arising during construction.
- Identify and recommend practical solutions to structural challenges while maintaining project schedules and quality standards.
- Support value engineering initiatives and continuous improvement of construction processes.
- Ensure all structural work complies with Ontario Building Code requirements and engineering best practices.
Preferred Experience
- Low-rise residential subdivisions and production housing.
- Structural review and certification.
- Engineering Requests (ERs) and construction support.
- Coordination with municipalities, consultants, architects, and contractors.
- Experience with value engineering and construction issue resolution.
- Familiarity with Ontario permit approval processes.
Pay: From $100,000.00 per year
