Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative 3D Printing Engineer to join our advanced manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing 3D printing processes to support our manufacturing operations. This role requires a strong background in mechanical engineering, CAD design, and industrial equipment, with a focus on continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles. The 3D Printing Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance product quality, efficiency, and innovation in our production environment.
Duties
- Design and develop 3D printing processes using CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, and Schematics to create precise models and prototypes.
- Operate and troubleshoot various industrial 3D printers, ensuring optimal performance and quality output.
- Integrate robotics and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) into manufacturing workflows to automate and improve additive manufacturing processes.
- Program CNC machines and develop CNC programming routines to support complex manufacturing tasks related to 3D printed components.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers and manufacturing teams to optimize designs for additive manufacturing, ensuring manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct regular maintenance, calibration, and upgrades of industrial equipment involved in 3D printing operations.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles to enhance process efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
- Develop technical schematics, CAD models, and assembly instructions for new projects or process modifications.
- Support welding and assembly activities as needed to integrate 3D printed parts into larger assemblies or systems.
- Document processes, procedures, and specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Skills
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Schematics, and general CAD design principles.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with a background in mechanical engineering or related fields.
- Experience with industrial equipment including 3D printers, CNC machines, welding tools, and other manufacturing machinery.
- Knowledge of robotics integration within manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for automation purposes.
- Skilled in CNC programming and troubleshooting for additive manufacturing applications.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing techniques and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to read schematics, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints accurately.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Prior experience in manufacturing or industrial equipment maintenance is highly desirable.
