The Manager, Practical Experience role is responsible for supporting the transition of the CPA Professional Program by developing and implementing policies, processes, and resources aligned with new program requirements, with a particular focus on employers and mentors. The role also plays a key part in ensuring effective change management throughout the transition.
As the CPA Professional Program undergoes significant changes, this two-year temporary position will be dedicated to supporting the implementation and successful adoption of the new program framework. The position oversees two direct reports and reports directly to the Director, Practical Experience.
CPA Alberta has offices in Edmonton and Calgary and provides hybrid Telecommuting opportunities (working from home a maximum of 3 days a week).

- CPA designation along with at least 4 years of post-designation experience.
- Two years of people management or supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated experience in change management.
- Proven ability to plan, organize, and execute projects according to established business plans.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to explain and demonstrate technical knowledge and application in a practical manner.
- Work well under pressure, manage multiple tasks and priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work within a team and independently.
- Familiarity with the CPA Practical Experience Requirements and Preapproved Program Route programs is an asset.
- Assist with the development of policies and processes to support the new program requirements and overall strategy of the Practical Experience team.
- Develop the transition and communication approach for employers and mentors.
- Support the rollout of the new experience portal.
- Collaborate with Student Recruitment and Employer Relations to ensure consistent transition management.
- Support the Manager, Pre-approved Programs in employer evaluations.
- Support the department in candidate transition evaluations.
- Develop mentor processes and resources for the new program.
- In collaboration with the other managers, address any practical experience matters that are escalated by the practical experience team, consulting with the Associate Director or Director as appropriate.
- Responsible for the content launch of the new experience component on the CPA Alberta website.
- Develop change management strategies and best practices for the:
- Office of the Registrar and PGA Application.
- Experience reporting function for external users to ensure positive engagement.
- Support process changes and improvements as they relate to PGA changes, including supporting staff.
- Support other departments with other change management needs as required.
