Blue Door is a not-for-profit registered charitable agency governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. We have been an integral part of our community providing essential emergency shelter services since 1982. Blue Door’s mission is to support people who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness to attain and retain affordable housing.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Community Hub Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining community partnerships, coordinating programming and community engagement initiatives, and supporting the delivery of services for individuals and families accessing Blue Door’s Durham/Beaverton programs. The incumbent works collaboratively with community organizations, service providers, staff, volunteers, and service users to identify needs, facilitate access to resources, and strengthen community connections.
Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and strengthen collaborative relationships with community organizations, service providers, stakeholders, volunteers, and donors across Durham Region.

Develop and implement community engagement strategies that increase awareness of Blue Door services, promote community involvement, and foster meaningful partnerships.

Coordinate, schedule, and support the delivery of programs, services, and community initiatives in collaboration with internal staff and external partners including the Regional Municipality of Durham.

Develop and promote a community space utilization plan to maximize access to programming, services, and partnership opportunities.

Engage with service users and staff to identify emerging needs, service gaps, and opportunities, and coordinate appropriate programming, supports, and referrals.

Represent Blue Door and Beaverton Heights at community meetings, committees, networks, and sector initiatives to strengthen community connections and partnerships.

Maintain current knowledge of community resources, services, and supports available to individuals and families, and facilitate access to appropriate community-based services.

Deliver services and programming using anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, client-centered, and harm reduction approaches.

Maintain accurate records, case notes, and documentation, and prepare monthly, quarterly, and other required statistical reports.

Respond to inquiries from community members, service users, staff, and volunteers in a professional, timely, and customer-focused manner.

Provides referrals and follow-up as necessary.

Meets with manager on a regular basis and participates in completion of annual performance evaluation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Social Work or a related field.

A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a related field.

Experience working with vulnerable populations.

An understanding of homelessness, mental health, and addiction issues.

An ability to work independently and as an effective team member.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-
Strong interpersonal skills with clients and colleagues and commitment to team approach.

Understanding and delivery of anti-oppressive practices.

Experience with harm reduction practices.

Excellent organizational skills.

Able to operate within a flexible work schedule.

Must have a reliable vehicle, valid driving license, Clear driver’s abstract and appropriate insurance. Mileage is reimbursed.

Valid First Aid/CPR, CPI, and Vulnerable Screening Clearance (Police Check).
