Job Overview
Chine Hot Pot is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and motivated Line Cook to join our kitchen team. We operate a fast-paced individual hot pot restaurant where consistency, organization, cleanliness, and teamwork are essential.
The successful candidate will assist with food preparation, cooking, portioning, station setup, and maintaining food-safety standards throughout each shift. This position is suitable for someone who wants to develop their kitchen skills and grow into greater responsibilities within an expanding restaurant company.
Starting wage: $16 per hour plus tips, with opportunities for wage increases based on performance, reliability, and skill development.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, portion, and cook menu items according to restaurant recipes and standards
- Wash, cut, and prepare vegetables, meats, seafood, sauces, and other ingredients
- Set up and maintain an organized workstation before, during, and after service
- Support the meat, vegetable, appetizer, fryer, and general preparation stations as required
- Ensure all food is properly stored, labelled, dated, rotated, and handled according to food-safety procedures
- Follow portion-control standards to maintain consistency and reduce food waste
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the kitchen
- Clean and properly maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, coolers, worktables, and preparation areas
- Receive, organize, and store supplier deliveries safely and efficiently
- Communicate clearly with supervisors, kitchen staff, and front-of-house team members
- Follow all restaurant policies, health regulations, and workplace-safety procedures
- Assist with opening, closing, cleaning, inventory, and other kitchen duties as required
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous line cook, kitchen helper, food preparation, or restaurant experience is preferred
- A valid Food Safety Certification is required
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and high-volume kitchen
- Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, portioning, and food quality
- Ability to follow recipes, preparation procedures, and instructions consistently
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team
- Willingness to learn multiple kitchen stations and develop new cooking skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and move kitchen supplies
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Experience with Asian cuisine, hot pot, meat preparation, or fryer stations is an asset but not required
