Barista & Guest Service Representative (Front of House)
Job Overview
Sweet Heart Café is seeking a friendly, energetic, and customer-focused Barista & Guest Service Representative to join our growing team. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about coffee, hospitality, and creating memorable guest experiences.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality espresso-based beverages, specialty coffees, teas, and other café drinks while providing exceptional customer service. In addition to beverage preparation, this role includes taking customer orders, processing payments, preparing light café food, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.
The ideal candidate has previous barista experience, excellent communication skills, and thrives in a fast-paced café environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare espresso based coffees, specialty beverages, teas, smoothies, and other café drinks to company standards.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting every guest with a friendly and professional attitude.
- Take customer orders accurately using the POS system and process cash, debit, and credit card payments.
- Recommend and upsell beverages, desserts, pastries, and menu items.
- Prepare café sandwiches and other light food items following recipes and food safety standards.
- Ensure all drinks are presented consistently with excellent quality.
- Maintain cleanliness of the coffee station, dining area, and front counter.
- Restock coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups, and other supplies throughout the shift.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Assist with opening and closing duties.
- Support teammates to ensure efficient daily operations.
- Handle customer questions and resolve concerns professionally.
Qualifications
- Previous barista experience is required.
- Experience operating commercial espresso machines and coffee grinders.
- Knowledge of espresso extraction, milk steaming, latte art, and specialty coffee preparation.
- Previous experience in a café, coffee shop, or restaurant is preferred.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail.
- Basic math and cash handling skills.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Pay: $18.00-$19.50 per hour
