WEEKEND YOUTH WORKER
(Part-time, Permanent Position)
About the position:
McMan is seeking to recruit dedicated YOUTH WORKER that will work with children between the ages of 4-11 years old with complex behaviours, using the CARE Model while demonstrating a strength-based, solution-focused approach. Team members are central to mentoring, supporting, and guiding children/youth in developing the skills they need for independence and well-being. This position will be primarily working 1-1 with a 5-year-old.
Hours: Saturday and Sunday 3pm-11pm, 16 hours per week
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
What you’ll do:
· Connect with and develop helping relationships with youth
· Support and offer guidance to children
· Supervise children in the home
· Complete documentation
· Perform administrative and cleaning duties relating to the operation of the home
· Participate in on-going program development
What you bring:
· Completion of a Degree/Diploma in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology
· Equivalencies may be considered
· Please note that applicants with a degree or diploma in Social Work from a university accredited by the Alberta College of Social Workers are required to be registered with the College (RSW) before starting or obtain registration within three months of hire.
· Six (6) months of directly related experience in child/youth/family work
· Standard First Aid-Level C CPR + AED
· Police Information Check; including Vulnerable Persons Sector Check (from within the last 6 months)
· Children Services Intervention Record Check (from within the last 6 months)
· Valid 3-year Class 5 driver’s license and current drivers abstract are required and/or a reliable vehicle with $2 Million liability auto insurance
· Strong communication and relationship building skills are an asset
· Ability to deal with complex high needs
· Experience with trauma and developmental delays
· Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and harm reduction practices
· CARE (Children And Residential Experiences) training is an asset
· Desire to see young people succeed
· Ability to assist with Personal Care
