The role. We are seeking a full-time, permanent Project Manager within our Maintenance & Engineering Department. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for leading project teams to deliver high-quality capital projects from inception, development, construction and commissioning through to final financial closure and asset capitalization. The successful candidate will lead high-functioning project teams with representation from all mill disciplines to determine detailed scopes of work and safely deliver the final installation that meets mill equipment standards within the MPR Mission Zero safety management system. This will require the extensive management of 3rd party project delivery support, including engineering and construction management personnel, equipment vendors and field construction teams. As such, the MPR Project Manager must be capable and adept at developing high-quality project documentation to generate meaningful and executable project delivery contracts.
Role and Responsibilities:

- Maximize asset value for MPR by ensuring new designs align with rigorous site standards for safety, reliability, and maintenance best practices.
- Manage all critical project documentation (Terms of Reference, project plans) and proactively identify, register, and mitigate project risk.
- Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders and coordinate multidisciplinary teams (Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Construction) using robust communication strategies.
- Oversee project controls, manage cost and schedule status updates, and lead post-project audits to confirm realized project benefits.
- Support internal and external compliance and reporting, including financial auditing and grant funding.
- Additional duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Post-secondary education in a relevant Mechanical discipline (Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technologist, or similar technical field), with a minimum 5 years of industrial experience; PMP designation is considered an asset. Experience in a Pulp Mill or similar industrial facility is also an asset.
- Extensive experience with formal project management methodology, project delivery processes, front-end engineering, and decision-making/evaluation tools.
- Demonstrated knowledge of industrial equipment (pressure piping, vessels, pumps, reducers, conveyors, and pulp mill mechanical equipment) and various construction/fabrication codes and standards.
- Exceptional relationship management and interdepartmental coordination skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain high levels of trust and confidence with key stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to synthesize assignments to lead productive meetings, manage agendas, and ensure rigorous action item follow-up.
