The Opportunity:
The Cook Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of preparation duties in a traditional institutional kitchen in accordance with production schedules, standardized recipes and standards in accordance with accepted safety and food handling policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists Cook in preparing food items in a timely fashion following production time schedules, prescribed recipes, portions, procedures and guidelines
- Assists in meal service as required relating to beverage and meal service, plating of food, clearing and cleaning of dining rooms etc
- May be required to assist with preparation of meal carts
- Assists with preparation of food, supply orders, receiving and proper storage
- Participates in food and equipment product evaluation
- Assist in audits as directed and required
- Maintains, cleans and sanitizes work area and all related equipment
- May be required to assist in monitoring food usage and waste
Qualifications:
- Certification in a nationally recognized food service safety program
- Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing
- 2 years of experience as a Cook Assistant, preferably in a Healthcare environment
- Experience working with Juice dispenser, Steam tables, Chemical Dispenser, Knives, Ovens, Mixer
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and accomplish tasks in a fast paced environment following departmental guidelines
- Demonstrated effective multi-tasking, and organizational skills
