Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction estimating and project management, with proficiency in industry-standard software. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in analyzing project specifications, preparing accurate cost estimates, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
Duties
- Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
- Utilize Bid software to create detailed take-offs and pricing for materials, labor, and equipment.
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to gather necessary information for accurate estimations.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and contracts for future reference.
- Stay updated on industry trends, pricing changes, and new materials or methods that could impact cost estimations.
- Assist with quantity take-offs and cost estimates from drawings, specifications, and other documentation.
- Support the preparation of tender and bid submissions.
- Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing.
- Analyze project requirements and assist in creating accurate cost breakdowns.
- Attend site visits or pre-bid meetings as required.
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and other team members throughout the pre-construction phase.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction estimating or a related field is essential.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and labor costs.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build rapport with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Effective project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate cost assessments.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- 0–2 years of experience in estimating or construction (internships/co-op placements acceptable).
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Eagerness to learn and grow within the company.
