We are seeking a motivated and hands-on engineer to support the development, optimization, and scaling up of innovative manufacturing processes for specialty optical fibers. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and development of tools, equipment adaptation, and the implementation of production solutions for both research and development and commercial production.
This position combines technical design, process development, equipment adaptation, continuous improvement, and technical documentation. The ideal candidate will thrive in a multidisciplinary environment and enjoy solving complex technical problems related to advanced processes, materials, and fiber manufacturing.

- Actively participate in the development of new specialty optical fiber products within the team.
- Design, develop, and implement specialized tools, devices, and equipment to support R&D and production of specialty optical fibers.
- Lead machine adaptation and customization projects to improve production capacity and product quality.
- Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and production staff to translate new fiber designs into manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams, including those related to procurement, infrastructure, and health and safety.
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies, automation solutions, and production methods.
- Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective actions for process deviations and quality issues.
- Create and maintain process documentation, work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical reports.
- Manage engineering projects, from design to Implementation.
- Ensure coordination with internal and external stakeholders, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers.
- Provide technical support to production teams and contribute to resolving manufacturing issues.
- Support the transfer of technology from R&D to production.
- All other related tasks.
We are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications:
- University degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent training
- Three (3) years of experience in process development, production engineering, equipment design, or industrial R&D.
- Strong experience in process optimization, yield improvement, and root cause analysis.
- Experience in developing technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and manufacturing procedures.
- Hands-on experience with industrial equipment, automation, instrumentation, or custom machinery.
- Proficiency in CAD software and mechanical design.
- Knowledge of process validation, statistical process control (SPC), and quality management systems.
- Experience working in a research and development environment through to production.
- Excellent project management and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Willingness to travel (locally and internationally) for training.
- Advanced proficiency in French and English proficiency.
- Rigor, organizational skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
