Licensed Practical Nurse/ Registered Nurse - Casual
On-Call (Multiple Positions)
Midnight Sun Nursing Services Inc. provides health care services to clients in their homes. All
nurses must provide care within their scope of practice. Casual On-call position means no
guarantee of hours. Hours are dependent on the needs in the community.
Rate of pay: 40.00 to 50.00 per hour
EXPERIENCE:
All LPN/RNs must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in conducting patient
assessment and direct nursing care of a broad range of diseases in a primary care or
ambulatory care setting. This must be included/exampled in your resume.
Duties And Responsibilities:
● perform within defined scope of practice in accordance with the regulatory
organization in Yukon Territory;
● perform nursing interventions such as taking vital signs, applying aseptic
techniques including sterile dressing, ensuring infection control, and conducting
specimen collection;
● develop a nursing care plan based on the result of the assessment and refer to a
physician or other health care provider;
● administer medication as per doctor’s order as per scope of practice and observe
and document therapeutic effects;
● complete nursing documentation immediately after each client interaction;
● communicate any changes or abnormal findings of the client’s status or condition
to the senior Abnormal is defined as any deviation to the norm, average, or
expected;
● perform therapeutic procedures such as injections and wound care;
● administer and monitor established respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy;
● monitor client’s progress and evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions;
● provide health education to clients;
● Assist clients to get to medical appointments and document
● Ensure clients have sufficient supply of medications and communicate with
pharmacy staff regarding same if needed
● Use best practices for infection control.
Additionally:
● Adhere to Midnight Sun Nursing Services Policies and Procedures;
● Responsible for completing Accident Reports for all direct reports who injure
themselves on the job, within 24 hours of the incident; and
● Maintain confidentiality of client and corporate information. Every employee must
sign confidentiality agreement as part of onboarding.
Essential Qualifications:
● Provincial Registration: An active practice permit or license from your local
regulatory authority (e.g., BCCNM in BC, CLPNA in Alberta, or the Yukon)
● Emergency First Aid CPR BLS (HCP) + AED
● Must successfully complete the Police Records Check (PRC)/Vulnerable
Sector Screening (VSS) process. This document is mandatory and
necessary.
