Location - This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.
This part-time position has an end date of one year from the date of hire, with the possibility of an extension, and is ideal for Lister Centre residents who wish to work a few hours per week. Hours of work will include evenings, weekends and early mornings and are up to 15 hours per week.
Reporting to the Conference Services Supervisor, the Facility Assistant (FA) is responsible for overseeing and facilitating operational requirements for room setup-ups, for events being held at the University of Alberta Conference Centre, Peter Lougheed Hall, University Commons and in classrooms across campus that are booked through Conference Services at the University of Alberta. Shifts for these casual positions are scheduled only when required to support our meeting room events and related business.
The Campus Operations & Services team supports the University of Alberta through a range of essential services and works for operating, maintaining and renewing infrastructure across our campuses.

Responsible for setting up conference and meeting rooms at Lister Conference Centre, Peter Lougheed Hall, University Commons and various classrooms.

Performs meeting room set-up and tear down ensuring all requests (i.e. seating plan and AV requirements) are met.

Provides minor maintenance (i.e. monitors and makes minor adjustments to furniture, ensures AV equipment is working).

Reports maintenance issues that require further repair.

Performs janitorial tasks (i.e. mops floors, vacuums carpets, dusts rooms, spot cleans carpets, cleans tables/furniture, removes garbage and recycling, etc.) between events, if required.

High School Diploma.

Related experience in hospitality and service industry preferred.

Excellent ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

Familiarity with all styles of meeting room setups.

Strong communication (verbal and written) skills; exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a variety of audiences (students, staff, guests).

Familiarity with AV equipment including sound systems, microphones, data projectors.

Effective analytical and problem solving skills.
