Business Development Manager – Broker Relations & Investor Partnerships

Compensation: $90,000 –$110,000 per year (we are flexible based on level of experience) + commission + bonus

M12 Asset Management is a non-bank lender based in Mississauga, ON. We specialize in providing personalized private mortgage loans for highly marketable residential and commercial properties. We focus on addressing the financing needs of properties that conventional banks may not meet due to lending restrictions. With a diverse portfolio primarily concentrated in Ontario, we offer investors an opportunity to enter the profitable mortgage investment market.

As we continue to scale, we are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Business Development Manager to expand our broker network, increase loan origination volume, and support investor engagement initiatives. This role will report to the President & CEO.

Position Overview:
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with mortgage brokers, commercial brokers, real estate professionals, and referral partners to drive mortgage originations. The successful candidate will serve as a key representative of M12 Asset Management in the marketplace, educating brokers on our lending programs and becoming a trusted resource for complex lending scenarios.
In addition to broker development, the role will support investor communications and assist in the placement of mortgage investment opportunities with existing high-net-worth investors and referral sources.
This position is ideal for a relationship-driven professional with experience in private lending, alternative lending, mortgage brokerage, or financial services.
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
Broker Development & Relationship Management
- Recruit and onboard new mortgage broker relationships
- Maintain regular contact with existing broker partners
- Educate brokers on M12 Asset Management’s lending products and underwriting guidelines
- Conduct broker meetings, presentations, and training sessions
- Increase application submissions and funded mortgage volume
- Attend industry networking events, conferences, and broker functions
- Identify and develop new referral channels and strategic partnerships
- Maintain accurate records of broker activity within CRM systems
Business Development
- Develop and execute sales strategies to grow market share
- Build relationships with real estate investors, builders, developers, and industry professionals
- Generate new lending opportunities through proactive outreach
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity
- Provide market intelligence and feedback to management
Investor & Mortgage Assignment Support
- Assist with communications related to mortgage investment opportunities
- Coordinate the presentation and sale of mortgage assignments and investment opportunities to existing investor contacts
- Maintain ongoing relationships with high-net-worth investors and referral sources
- Support management in investor outreach and follow-up activities
Referral Network Growth
- Identify opportunities for broker referrals into M12 Asset Management’s investment fund
- Develop relationships with financial advisors, accountants, lawyers, and real estate professionals who can introduce prospective investors
- Expand M12 Asset Management’s overall referral ecosystem
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following qualifications:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mortgage lending, private lending, mortgage brokerage, banking, or financial services business development
- Proven ability to develop and maintain referral relationships
- Strong understanding of mortgage lending fundamentals and underwriting concepts
- Excellent communication, presentation, and networking skills
- Self-motivated with a strong sales and relationship-building mindset
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams
- Experience working with mortgage brokers, alternative lenders, MICs, or private lenders
- Existing network of mortgage broker relationships
- Knowledge of private mortgages, construction financing, bridge financing, and commercial lending
The following would be considered a strong asset:
- Experience working with investors or capital markets-related activities
