We provide individualized support in academic upgrading, literacy, digital literacy, employment preparation, secondary school credits, and post-secondary readiness.Our instructional team is made up of versatile adult educators who support learners across a wide range of educational and employment-related goals. In addition to these core responsibilities, many instructors develop expertise in specific subject areas, allowing us to provide learners with specialized support when needed.
Our team includes instructors with specialized knowledge in areas such as mathematics, accounting, AutoCAD, ESL, project management, computers, technology support, and workplace skills.
We are currently seeking an Adult Learning Instructor who brings strong mathematics knowledge and is interested in becoming one of our mathematics specialists.
The Opportunity
This position combines broad adult education instruction with a specialization in mathematics.Like all Pathways instructors, the successful candidate will work one-to-one with adult learners, helping them achieve academic, employment, and personal goals. Instructors support learners in areas such as academic upgrading, computer and digital literacy skills, learning strategies, educational planning, and workplace readiness.In addition, the successful candidate will contribute advanced mathematics expertise to our instructional team.Pathways places a high value on mathematics competency. Many of our learners require support in mathematics to achieve secondary school credits, gain admission to college programs, enter apprenticeship and skilled trades pathways, or prepare for post-secondary education. As a result, we actively seek instructors with strong mathematics backgrounds and strive to maintain a team with multiple mathematics specialists.
The successful candidate will join an established team of instructors with advanced mathematics expertise and help us continue to meet growing learner demand in this area.
Responsibilities
As a Pathways Instructor, you will:
- Provide individualized instruction and coaching to adult learners
- Support academic upgrading across a variety of subject areas
- Assist learners in developing computer and digital literacy skills
- Help learners build confidence, study skills, and independent learning strategies
- Support educational, training, and employment goal planning
- Maintain learner records and progress documentation
- Collaborate with fellow instructors and administrative staff
- Contribute to a positive, professional, and learner-centred environment
As a Mathematics Specialist, you will also:
- Support learners working at the Grade 10, 11, and 12 mathematics levels and beyond
- Assist learners preparing for college, apprenticeship, trades, and post-secondary pathways
- Explain complex mathematical concepts in practical and accessible ways
- Support learners with algebra, functions, geometry, measurement, workplace math, and related topics
- Contribute ideas, resources, and best practices that strengthen the organization's mathematics capacity
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Strong mathematics knowledge at the secondary and post-secondary preparation levels
- Experience teaching, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, or supporting learners
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to adapt instruction to individual learner needs
- A commitment to helping adults achieve their educational and career goals
Candidates may possess:
- A degree in Mathematics or a related field
- Bachelor of Education with mathematics qualifications
- Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) designation
- Adult education experience
- Postsecondary instructional experience
- Relevant industry or technical experience
