Job Summary
We are seeking a Legal Assistant/Paralegal with civil litigation experience in an Alberta law firm. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with experienced lawyers on complex matters, fostering professional growth and development.
Responsibilities
- Organize and manage physical and digital file systems to ensure efficient handling of client communications, records, and documentation;
- Perform due diligence searches as required (CORES, LTO, PPR, etc.)
- Draft correspondence, legal documents, pleadings, and court filings;
- Prepare client accounts and follow up on accounts receivables;
- Manage deadlines, ensuring limitations dates and case timelines are met;
- Track and post time and disbursements;
- Utilize software systems including Microsoft Office, Adobe Pro, KB Digital Filing and Unity Accounting knowledge is an asset;
Skills
- Proven experience as a paralegal or legal assistant within a law office environment;
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail;
- Exceptional writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence with clarity and professionalism;
- Proficiency in document review, proofreading and contract management processes.
- Effective communication skills paired with phone etiquette for interacting professionally with clients and team members;
- Ability to handle administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, scheduling appointments efficiency.
