Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Building Maintenance professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the functionality and safety of our facilities through regular maintenance, repairs, and inspections. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to providing excellent customer service while maintaining a clean and efficient environment.
Duties
- Perform apartment turnover and restoration work as a primary responsibility, with a strong focus on painting, patching walls, touch-ups, and preparing units for new residents.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and appliance repairs.
- Conduct regular inspections of common areas, equipment, and building systems to identify potential issues.
- Respond promptly to residents’ service requests and work orders.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of building grounds, including landscaping, trash removal, and snow/ice removal when required.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes.
- Coordinate with external contractors and vendors when specialized repairs are needed.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and supply usage.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years residential maintenance experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or certification is a plus)
- Mechanical knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing)
- Knowledge of hand and power tools
- Ability to follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or with a team
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Physical ability to perform tasks including lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing ladders, standing for long periods, and working in various environments (indoors/outdoors)
- Flexible schedule; willingness to work after hours or on-call if required
- Valid driver’s license or reliable source of transportation
Preferred (but not required):
- Bilingual (French/English)
- Basic technological skills to navigate the maintenance platform
- Prior experience in construction, or facilities work
