Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Fibre Splicer & Telecommunications Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of fiber optic and telecommunications networks. This role requires a strong understanding of fiber optic infrastructure, telecommunications systems, and industry safety standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, capable of working independently in field environments, and committed to delivering high-quality network performance and customer satisfaction.
Duties
- Perform fiber optic cable splicing, termination, and testing for indoor installations.
- Read and interpret network diagrams, splice schematics, and construction drawings.
- Install, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment and infrastructure.
- Conduct OTDR, power meter, and continuity testing to verify network integrity and performance.
- Troubleshoot fiber optic and telecommunications network issues and perform corrective actions.
- Install and configure telecommunications hardware, including fiber distribution panels, enclosures, and related equipment.
- Ensure all work complies with company standards, customer requirements, and industry regulations.
- Complete accurate documentation, test reports, and daily work records.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental procedures while working in field and customer locations.
- Coordinate with project managers, network engineers, and customers to ensure timely project completion.
Skills
- Fiber optic splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting using fusion splicers and OTDR equipment.
- Installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications and fiber optic networks.
- Ability to read and interpret network diagrams, construction drawings, and technical schematics.
- Knowledge of FTTH, FTTX, indoor cable installation practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for network and connectivity issues.
- Familiarity with telecommunications equipment, fiber distribution systems, and industry standards.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and teamwork abilities.
- Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and ability to work independently in field environments.
