We are seeking a Low Voltage Technician with progressive experience in the integrated security or low-voltage industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in site-level installations, troubleshooting, and customer support, along with proficiency in relevant tools and equipment. This position requires leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to providing high-quality service.
Responsibilities:
- Install, program, configure, and commission security systems, including CCTV cameras, access control systems, and intrusion alarms.
- Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs to ensure the functionality and reliability of security systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with security and cabling systems.
- Maintain detailed documentation of installations, maintenance activities, and repairs.
- Train clients and end-users on system operation to maximize efficiency.
- Stay current with advancements in security technology, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Adhere to safety regulations and compliance standards.
- Perform administrative duties, including project updates and filing project documentation.
- Serve as a mentor to colleagues, offering guidance on testing and optimizing equipment.
- Availability for "on-call" duties outside of regular hours as needed ( rare).
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Progressive experience in a technical role within the integrated security or low-voltage industry.
- Previous experience leading installations at the site level.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with relevant tools and equipment.
- Vendor certification in low voltage systems (LENEL, GENETEC, MILESTONE, AVIGILON, etc.) preferred.
- Valid TQ certification preferred.
- Valid BC security license and Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Programming experience.
- Postsecondary training in electronics or equivalent.
- Strong command of English (verbal and written).
- Networking knowledge and computer skills.
Work Includes:
- In-suite pre-wiring, security cameras, alarm systems, access control systems, system networking, intercoms/enterphones, external EMT piping/wire pulling, and data/communication systems.
Additional Qualifications:
- Security Alarm Installer License or TQ certification is an asset.
- Excellent time management and documentation skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Experience with a variety of security systems, including access control, intrusion, and CCTV.
- MUST be legally allowed to work in Canada.
