The Academy for Mathematics and English is a proud Canadian company with over 30 years of international experience helping students build confidence and mastery in Mathematics, English, and Science.
Our Barrie centre offers in-person, low student to tutor ratio tutoring in a focused, calm learning environment. We work with students from SK to Gr 12/University-prep, and we are known for our high academic standards and thoughtful, tailored instruction.

What You Will Do
- Tutor Mathematics, with a particular focus on Grades 9-12, including Advanced Functions and Calculus/Vectors; ability to work with and engage younger students (Gr 5-8) is very desirable
- Bonus: If you're able to tutor Physics and/or Chemistry at the high-school level
- Deliver engaging, adaptable instruction based on individual needs
- Adjust explanations to meet different learning styles and gaps
- Monitor student progress and provide clear, encouraging feedback
- Help students build confidence, independence, and academic resilience
- Collaborate with centre leadership to support student success
All tutoring is in person at our Barrie location

What We’re Looking For
We are looking for tutors who are academically strong, reliable, and professional.
Required Qualifications
- Certified teacher OR a university degree in Math, Science, or a closely related field
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience (formal or informal)
- Strong math competency through Grade 12 / pre-calculus level
- Ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently
- Excellent, clear communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable transportation to and from the centre
- Legal authorization to work in Canada
Availability
- Minimum 2 days per week during our tutoring hours:
- Monday–Thursday: 4:00 pm – 7:30 pm
- Saturday: 10:00 am – 12:30 pm during school year
