Residential Support Worker – Developmental Services

As a Residential Support Worker (internally known as a Residential Counsellor Aide), you’ll be a vital part of a passionate, collaborative team providing tailored, person-centered support to individuals with developmental and mental health needs. In this role, you’ll support daily living and personal growth, help design and implement individualized programs, and foster independence, inclusion, and joy. Key Responsibilities
· Building trusting, respectful relationships with individuals, their families, and support teams.
· Planning and facilitating engaging leisure, recreational, and community activities.
· Supporting job placements and community involvement.
· Assisting with daily living needs including feeding, dressing, personal hygiene, bathing, and mobility support.
· Monitoring medical needs, administering medication, and responding effectively to emergencies.
· Ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming living environment through regular housekeeping.
· Maintaining accurate documentation, including daily reports, medication records, and financial tracking.
· Supporting individuals through Behaviour Support Plans and ensuring all actions align with their personal goals.
· Driving individuals to medical appointments, recreational outings, and family visits.
· Actively participating as a collaborative team member and working alongside other community agencies as needed.
· Staying up to date with training, health, and safety protocols to ensure a secure environment for all.
What We're Looking For
We’re seeking compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented individuals who bring both skill and heart to their work. You have:
· A two-year college diploma in Social Services, Developmental Services, or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
· Certification in First Aid, CPR, and CPI (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Knowledge of developmental services, behavioural management, and community resources.
· A high level of ethical standards and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
· Flexibility, sound judgment, and comfort working both independently and collaboratively.
· Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
· Clear Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector (within last 6 months or willingness to obtain upon hire)
· Ability to perform two-person lifts with another employee
· Valid Ontario driver’s license and clear driver’s abstract
