JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Controller will be the lead of our finance team, which currently includes a full-time bookkeeper and administrator who does accounts payable.
The Controller will report directly to ownership, with support from our Accountant when required, and ensure that we have sound accounting principles and practices.
Responsibilities and Duties Include:
- Ensuring that we maintain all outstanding debt for the company including mortgages and vehicle loans
- Complete mortgage draws for lenders and communicate with lenders for all loans
- Complete cash flow projections
- Overlook payroll
- Monitor project costs
- Monitor budgets and investigate any discrepancies.
- Assist ownership & Project Managers on budgeting
- Work with our PMs to facilitate any accounting matters that may be needed
- Coordinate tax filing with Accountants
- Overlook or perform bank and credit card reconciliations
- As this is a new position to our company duties will be determined upon hiring and business needs
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Post secondary education in accounting or finance
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a Staff Accountant or Controller
- Construction or Development Experience is required
- Quick Books Online experience is required
- Strong excel abilities
- Experience with construction mortgages is required
- Excellent organizational skills and communication skills are required
