Landscape Construction Position
The Landscape Construction Crew Lead is a hands-on position responsible for overseeing and participating in all phases of landscape construction projects. This role leads a crew of 2–3 team members while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
The Lead serves as the company's primary field representative, and is responsible for coordinating daily operations, maintaining quality standards, communicating with clients and subcontractors, operating equipment, and completing required administrative documentation with minimal supervision.

Qualifications & RequirementsEducation & Certifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Certified Landscape Technician (CLT) preferred.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification required or willingness to obtain.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, including a minimum of 10 hours of continuing education annually.
Licenses & Background
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must be insurable under the company’s vehicle insurance policy.
- Successful completion of background screening.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and operate construction equipment and materials safely.

Experience Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) years of landscape construction experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading and supervising landscape construction crews.
- Thorough understanding of landscape construction methods, materials, and installation practices.
Key ResponsibilitiesField Operations
- Lead and actively participate in all phases of landscape construction projects.
- Interpret landscape plans, specifications, and construction drawings.
- Perform site layout, grading, excavation, planting, hardscape installation, and site preparation activities.
- Shoot grades and establish elevations using surveying and grading equipment.
- Coordinate material orders and deliveries to maintain project schedules.
- Ensure work is completed according to company quality standards and project specifications.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Safely operate company equipment, including:
- Skid steers
- Mini excavators
- Mini skid steers
- Tracked loaders
- Cut-off/chop saws
- Other construction equipment as required
- Perform daily inspections and preventative maintenance on all assigned equipment.
- Report equipment issues promptly.
Leadership & Crew Management
- Supervise, train, and mentor a crew of 2–3 employees.
- Foster a positive, productive, and safety-focused work environment.
- Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, and strong work ethic.
- Monitor crew productivity and ensure company production standards are achieved.
- Maintain high employee morale and encourage teamwork.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce company safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Conduct work in compliance with all OSHA and company safety standards.
- Immediately report and document accidents, incidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions.
- Ensure proper completion of workers’ compensation and incident reports.
Project Management
- Monitor project progress to ensure work remains on schedule and within budget.
- Analyze job costs and production performance.
- Identify opportunities for additional work and communicate change order opportunities to management.
- Ensure all approved change orders are documented and processed accurately.
Client, Vendor & Subcontractor Relations
- Serve as the primary field contact for clients during project execution.
- Communicate professionally with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, architects, and project stakeholders.
- Coordinate subcontractor activities and verify work is completed accurately and on schedule.
- Ensure materials and equipment are delivered as needed to maintain workflow.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Complete and submit all required paperwork accurately and on time, including:
- Daily job reports
- Timesheets
- Equipment inspections
- Purchase orders
- Safety documentation
- Change orders
- Material tracking records
- Maintain clean, organized company vehicles, equipment, and job sites.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Compensation
Compensation: Competitive hourly wage based on experience, qualifications, and certifications.
Additional Benefits: May include performance incentives, bonuses, training opportunities, and company benefits as applicable.
Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
