We are a growing public accounting and tax firm dedicated to providing exceptional accounting, tax, and advisory services to a diverse client base. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our team. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working directly with clients, mentoring junior staff, and managing multiple engagements in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for:
- Managing a portfolio of clients and maintaining complete accounting records.
- Preparing and reviewing full-cycle bookkeeping, including:
- Accounts payable
- Accounts receivable
- Payroll
- Bank and account reconciliations
- Preparing and filing HST/GST returns, payroll remittances, WSIB, and Employer Health Tax (EHT) returns accurately and on time.
- Preparing T3’s, T4’s, T5’s and T5018’s
- Preparing personal income tax returns (T1) and assisting junior staff with tax preparation and review.
- Preparing year-end working paper files and supporting documentation.
- Preparing corporate income tax returns (T2).
- Preparing trust return, (T3)
- Assisting with year-end engagements and financial reporting.
- Communicate professionally with clients and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), including handling inquiries, appeals, and Tax Court matters.
- Mentoring and supporting junior accounting staff.
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Enrolled in the CPA program or pursuing an equivalent professional accounting designation.
- 3+ years of experience in a public accounting firm.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting and tax principles.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize workload effectively.
- Proficiency with:
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Word
- QuickBooks (Desktop & Online)
- CaseWare
- CaseView
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience preparing corporate and personal tax returns.
- Experience working with multiple clients simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
