Pharmasave Aberdeen is a locally owned and operated compounding pharmacy located in Kamloops, BC. We are looking for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our team, who is passionate about delivering safe, and effective pharmacy services.
Pharmasave Aberdeen takes pride in offering exceptional customer service, focusing on the individual needs of our patients. In addition to offering regular pharmacy services, we are a compounding pharmacy and we specialize in travel vaccines and many other services to enhance our patients’ wellbeing.
About You!
Your outstanding customer service is what drives your success. You possess an interest in healthcare and have demonstrated experience in maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of work. While a combination of education and experience will be considered, one year of pharmacy assistant experience is preferred. There is some flexibility in scheduling; however, the successful candidate must be available to work our regular business hours, including some Saturdays.
About the Pharmacy Assistant Opportunity
Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, you will:
1. Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of patient information at all times.
2. Understand and conduct yourself professionally with a priority to excellent customer service and appropriate patient care.
3. Provide customer assistance in locating products/services. Refer all questions with regard to drug information or any health concern to the Pharmacist.
4. Prescription filling:
- Ensure legal compliance, confidentiality and privacy at all times;
- Assist with gathering and maintaining complete patient records;
- Review prescriptions for clarity, accuracy, and legal compliance:
- Process prescriptions, including measuring and mixing and accurate record-keeping;
- Prepare, package, and label medications (commercial and compounded);
- Communicate with patients and process prescriptions per pharmacy policies;
- Submit prescriptions for adjudication and assist with coverage/payment issues;
- Ensure the Pharmacist checks all prescriptions before dispensing.
5. Support other health care services (non-dispensing) such as vaccine, administration, medication reviews, prescription adaptations and minor ailment consultations through duties such as:
- Communicate to patients/customers basic details of the service;
- Register patients/customers for the service/program;
- Refer interested patients/customers to a Pharmacist for more details;
- Make appointment reminder calls;
- Prepare and organize service/program resources including, but not limited to, documentation forms and marketing materials.
6. Maintain inventory, remove expired meds, and manage out-of-stock items.
7. Perform Point of Sale transactions for prescriptions and other purchases.
8. Maintain clean, organized patient care/pharmacy areas and restock supplies.
9. Support patient programs by organizing and updating health information.
10. Contribute to the team and uphold Pharmasave Aberdeen's professional image by supporting patient care, maintaining confidentiality, delivering excellent customer service, and willingly assisting with other duties as needed, attending meetings and training.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $23.00-$27.00 per hour
