Forestry and Parks is responsible for managing our forests, public lands and provincial parks. Our Ministry accountabilities include:
- Growing Alberta’s environmentally responsible wood products and forestry sector
- Protecting Alberta’s forests from wildfire
- Preserving our provincial parks for the recreation and enjoyment of Albertans
- Enabling access to public lands for recreation and purposes while prioritizing conservation
- Managing public lands and balancing sustainable rangelands and grazing leases for Alberta producers
Within the Ministry, Land Operations Division, delivers an integrated approach to the management of provincial Crown Land. The work of the Division reflects the full range of users of the province’s Crown land including conservation, recreation, tourism, energy, forestry, agriculture and traditional land uses.
