The Cobbler is a long-established independent shoe store in downtown Victoria, known for quality footwear, thoughtful service, and a supportive team environment.
We’re looking for a dependable part-time team member with broad or defined availability. Weekend availability is essential.

This is an active retail position that requires standing and walking for up to 7 hours per shift. During our busy season, the store can be fast-paced, so we’re looking for someone who thrives in a busy environment, stays organized, and enjoys helping customers.
Duties
- Greet customers warmly and provide exceptional customer service to ensure a positive shopping experience
- Assist customers in selecting products, offering knowledgeable service
- Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems accurately for cash handling, transactions, and receipts
- Maintain organized merchandise displays
- Manage inventory levels by stocking shelves, checking stock levels, and assisting with inventory counts
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when handling inquiries or assisting customers remotelyHours & Scheduling: Shifts may vary week to week based on business needs.
Hours are likely to increase during the fall months and during staff holidays, while shifts may be more limited in the month of August
Compensation & Pay Structure
Team members at The Cobbler are paid through a team-based commission structure designed to encourage collaboration and consistent earnings.
Most team members earn between $20 and $35 per hour, depending on the season and store performance.
- Spring & early summer: typical earnings range from $20–$25 per hour
- Peak season: typical earnings range from $25–$35 per hour or more
Pay is calculated as either minimum wage plus 3% commission or 10% commission on sales — whichever is greater.
Commission is shared across the team, so everyone contributes and benefits together.
For those who prefer not to work within a commission structure, a set hourly wage of $20 per hour is available.
Benefits package available to employees working a minimum of 4 days per week, including coverage for prescription medications, dental, travel medical insurance, and select paramedical services. Coverage is subject to plan limits and eligibility.
Qualifications
- Previous retail sales experience is preferred but not required; enthusiasm and a positive attitude are essential
- Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling, and basic retail math skills for accurate transactions
- Strong communication skills
- Experience with merchandising, stocking, and product demos enhances your fit for this role
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced grocery store, restaurant or retail setting
Availability
