- Looking for a permanent cook to work a variety of stations
Responsibilities and Duties
- Prepares food that meets or exceeds the appearance, taste, and quality expectations of the residents, families, and clients.
- Prepares and/or monitors the preparation of daily and special event menu plans to ensure individual dietary needs and standards for dietary care are met or exceeded and costs remain within approved budget allocations.
- In collaboration with the manager, purchases the best quality and most cost-effective products that will meet or exceed the individual and group dietary needs of the facility’s residents.
- Provides leadership and direction to kitchen staff while following policies and procedures; organizing and directing staff orientation, scheduling and assigning work.
- Works with the departmental leadership team, maintaining or exceeding facility and company quality standards and special dietary requirements.
- Implements and maintains inventory control systems to maximize savings and minimize waste.
- Monitoring resident satisfaction and communicating issues and concerns to the leadership team for resolution.
- Embraces the sustainability policies to uphold an environmentally friendly home.
- Communicate any possible practices that will conserve and minimize overuse of product.
- Ensures all phases of food preparation meets or exceeds health and safety requirements, i.e. Community Care Facility Act, WHMIS, WCB, provincial safety standards, etc
- Demonstrates knowledge of fire/emergency procedures and policies of the home; participates in fire and emergency drills.
- Demonstrates knowledge and application of elder and team member safety.
- Demonstrates knowledge and application of all company and safety policies, prioritize the health and safety of all workers, residents and visitors.
- See something, Do Something! Proactively prioritize the health and safety of all workers, residents, and visitors. Reports all hazards, incidents and near misses in writing.
- Utilize the Right to Refuse unsafe work when appropriate, by following the proper procedure.
- Access safety information that applies to your position: Risk Assessments, Safe Work Procedures, Policies/Procedures, First Aide.
- Use all provided equipment in a safe manner, and for its assigned use only (ie. if you can’t reach something, get a ladder or stepstool, do NOT use a chair).
- Use Personal Protective Equipment as required, being sure to wear them properly.
- Never works under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any other substance, or in any condition that may impair your ability to perform work safely.
- Does not participate in unsafe situations (horseplay) and corrects any unsafe conditions if able.
- Ensures adherence to Infection Control Practices and provides education to Staff as required for Outbreak and basic infection control practices.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Never works under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any other substance, or in any condition that may impair your ability to perform work safely.
