Overview
Block Building Therapies is an Occupational Therapy clinic that provides assessment and rehabilitation services to adults across Manitoba who have a variety of physical, cognitive, and mental health diagnoses. Our therapists and staff are offered competitive compensation, as well as opportunities for paid continuing education and training. Therapists have the ability to work flexible hours while working from home, the clinic, or community-based environments.
Responsibilities
As an Occupational Therapist at Block Building Therapies, you will be part of a clinical team that specializes in Neuro-rehabilitation and Mental Health Services. As such, you will be working with clients who have physical, cognitive, and/or mental health diagnoses. Our Occupational Therapists collaborate with clients through assessment, intervention, follow-up, and planning to meet occupational performance goals. Quality client care is supported through continuing professional development and in-clinic mentorship with the senior therapy team. We are looking to add several members to our team.
GENERAL OT: Through collaboration with our partners in the community, you will be responsible for completing community-based adult rehabilitation programs including home assessments, equipment assessments, and follow-up recommendations, as well as personal care assessments, worksite assessments, permanent impairment assessments, and ergonomic assessments as needed.
MENTAL HEALTH OT: Through collaboration and partnership with social services and community sectors, you will have a particular focus on promoting mental health and wellbeing in clients’ homes, work, or community. Our Occupational Therapists are trained in carrying out Behavioural Activation and Exposure Therapy programs by providing education, coping strategies, and remedial skills to be more independent and successful in daily activities. You would also have the opportunity to participate in assisting clients to overcome anxiety that affects their ability to drive in the community as part of our Driving Anxiety Program. Involvement in the Neurodiversity-Informed and Adult ADHD OT program may be part of this position. Training and orientation would be paid and provided on the job through job shadowing and mentorship with other clinicians.
NEURO-REHABILITION OT: You will be responsible for assessment of physical and cognitive abilities as they relate to a neurological diagnoses. This includes specialized seating and mobility, cognitive assessments, and neurorehabilitation therapy.

Requirements
- Master’s degree or equivalent entry level requirement in Occupational Therapy.
- Active registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba (COTM).
- Membership and insurance with CAOT.
- Experience in traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and concussion management is an asset (Neuro-rehabilitation OT).
- Experience working with populations who have formal mental health diagnosis such as depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD, ADHD, autism, and FASD is an asset. Training or experience in CBT or DBT is an asset (Mental Health).
- Specific skills in wheelchair assessment and seating are preferred.
- Experience with cognitive and mental health assessment tools and resources is preferred.
- Possess excellent communication skills with an ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Remain up to date on documentation/case notes both in paper file and on our secure online portal.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, etc.
- Demonstrate effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Must demonstrate proficient organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of clinical reasoning skills and evidence-based practice.

Pay: $48.00-$62.00 per hour
