Expected Hours: 10–30 hours per week (including evenings and weekends)
About Once Upon a Child
Once Upon a Child is North America's leading children's resale retailer, buying and selling gently used clothing, shoes, toys, books, baby gear, and more for children from newborn to youth sizes. We make it easy for families to save money, reduce waste, and give quality children's items a second life.
We're excited to be opening the first Once Upon a Child location in Northern BC! Because we're a brand-new store, successful applicants will begin working during our pre-opening stocking phase, helping us build our inventory and prepare for our grand opening. This is a unique opportunity to be part of creating a store from the ground up and helping shape an amazing customer experience from day one.
What You'll Do
No two days are exactly the same! Responsibilities may include:
- Greeting customers and creating a welcoming shopping experience
- Purchasing gently used children's clothing, toys, equipment, and accessories from customers using our buying process
- Sorting, inspecting, pricing, tagging, and preparing inventory for the sales floor
- Organizing and merchandising the sales floor to maintain an attractive shopping environment
- Operating the point-of-sale system and processing purchases
- Keeping the store clean, organized, and well stocked
- Assisting with opening and closing duties
- Working as part of a team to meet daily goals and provide outstanding customer service

The ideal candidate is:
- Friendly, positive, and enjoys interacting with people
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Comfortable in a fast-paced retail environment
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Able to multitask and prioritize responsibilities
- A team player with a strong work ethic
- Passionate about sustainability, children's products, or supporting local families
Retail or customer service experience is an asset but not required—we're happy to train the right person!
Physical Requirements
This position requires:
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Lifting up to 30 lbs
- Bending, reaching, kneeling, and carrying merchandise throughout the day

Availability
Applicants should have flexible availability, including a combination of weekdays, evenings, and weekends. Additional hours will be available during the pre-opening setup and grand opening period.
