Description
We are looking for a Junior Buyer (6-month contract) who will be responsible for the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services to support business operations. Reporting to the Director of Procurement, this role manages supplier relationships, purchasing activities, and inventory requirements while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure uninterrupted production and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate is an organized, detail-oriented purchasing professional who thrives in a manufacturing environment. They possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, can effectively manage multiple priorities, and are committed to building productive supplier relationships while supporting operational excellence through efficient procurement practices.
Responsibilities:
- Review and process purchase requisitions (PRs) for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company procurement policies.
- Manage a portfolio of materials, Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), and suppliers to ensure manufacturing targets are achieved.
- Oversee all purchasing activities in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment for own portfolio.
- Ensure the continuous supply of materials and communicate potential supply risks that may affect business operations.
- Build, maintain, and strengthen supplier relationships through effective communication and collaboration.
- Support engineering and product change requests by assessing and communicating impacts on material availability and supply continuity.
- Collaborate with Production, Finance, Inventory, Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics teams to ensure the efficient flow of goods and services.
- Partner with suppliers to develop continuous improvement plans focused on on-time delivery, quality, and overall supply chain performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-2 years of purchasing or buyer experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Post-secondary education in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field is required.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
