Position Overview
We are seeking experienced and motivated Developmental Support Workers and Social Service Workers to support individuals with developmental disabilities and complex needs in group homes and the community. This role involves hands-on care, behavior management, community integration, and client advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement individualized support plans, including daily living activities and personal care
- Provide behaviour support and crisis management in home and community settings
- Promote independence, inclusion, and meaningful community participation
- Assist clients with personal goals and self-expression using various communication methods
- Support clients with feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming as needed
- Document client observations and daily progress accurately and professionally
- Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive living environment
- Collaborate with care teams to ensure high-quality, person-centered support
Required Qualifications
- Diploma/Degree in Developmental Services Worker (DSW), Social Service Worker (SSW), or a related field (Required)
- Minimum 1 year experience working with individuals with Autism, mental health, behavioural, and/or developmental disabilities (preferably in residential care)
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C (Required)
- Valid or willingness to obtain SMG (Supporting Management of Aggressive Behaviour) training (Required)
- Recent Vulnerable Sector Check (within 6 months) or willingness to obtain
- Up-to-date immunizations, TB test, and COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses minimum) (Required)
